It's been a while...

So, it's been almost a month since I updated this. I figured it would go that way. You know, you have this idea and want to go through with it, then just end up pushing it out of your mind for a while. The problem is that I really don't have much to say right now. I don't want this to be a blog about my life. I don't need everyone knowing about all my endeavors. But, really, that's the only thing that has been going on in my life. I've been really busy trying to figure out how to get myself healthy that I haven't really been thinking about anything to rant and rave about on here. I hope that, in due time, I will have more to write about, because this could be a fun little ditty to do. But, until then, I apologize for the lack on interesting going on her.

I'm Such a Sucker...

I got a bunch of iTunes money for Christmas. As a music enthusiast, you'd think that would be a great gift for me. But, I'm still a sucker for CDs. There's something about physically owning the album, being able to flip through the pages of the booklet. iTunes is good and all, but it just doesn't give me the same satisfaction. So I decided that I think I'm going to spend the iTunes money on new music, stuff I've never heard before. That way, I can use my Best Buy gift cards (or cash) on Cds of bands I know.

That being said, searching for new music is a tough task. I do like the feature on iTunes where you can find other bands that sound like the bands I like, but it's still difficult. So far, I think I've decided I want to get Consolers of the Lonely by The Raconteurs. I've listened through all the songs on iTunes (well, all 30 seconds of each song) and it seems really good. Very different than what I normally listen to. Maybe, once I get it, I'll write a review or something.

But aside from that one album, I have no idea what else to buy. I want to broaden my music library. As happy as I am with the diversity of my iTunes right now, I still think I could afford to get some new stuff that is out of the ordinary for me. Any suggestions?

Seriously America?!?

First off, I know Hollywood has been sucking lately. Very few movies come out these days that have a completely original plot, let alone a good one. Most of what hits theaters these days are just remakes of older movies, or even remakes of remakes. But then The Dark Knight came out over the summer. That movie alone helped bring the music industry back into the spotlight (no pun intended). Everyone knows about the records it set...or didn't set. And then, over the past couple of days, I've been reading about how Twilight was actually a bigger hit than The Dark Knight. Upon seeing the headline on yahoo.com, I was floored. I couldn't believe how a little teeny-bopper vampire movie could possibly out-do The Dark Knight. But, I read the article and it made sense. Twilight had a much smaller budget and made a much larger profit, relatively speaking. Acceptable.

But there is still one thing that I am baffled by. How come Titanic STILL holds the record for most money made? Seriously? We've had thousands of opportunities to dethrone it from it's position, but apparently, a movie in which EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS THE ENDING is better than a movie that's fresh and new. I guess we just have to blame the movie-goers for not putting in 100% effort in ending Titanic's epic run, even after it's epic failure. Way to go people.

Have I actually gotten over high school...

So, I decided to go to the library the other day to pick up some books to help me pass the time. I spent the night before I went on the Barnes & Noble website, looking at best-sellers and what not. See, I'm not a HUGE reader. I like to read, but I'm always so skeptical because, honestly, who wants to read a book that isn't good? So it usually takes me a long time to figure out what book I want to spend my time on. As I searched through the pages and pages of titles, I came across a book titled Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. When I read the synopsis, it kind of reminded me of the movie Crash, which is a pretty freakin' good movie. The book is about a girl that committed suicide, but, before she she did, she made 7 tapes with 13 stories of different people that affected her decision. They get passed around from person to person on the list, but we only follow one listener's journey. Like I said, this vaguely reminded me of Crash, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Well, that kind of turned out to be a mistake. Surprisingly, I finished it in 3 days. But I think that's because I didn't really like it and just wanted to get it over with. See, when I read books I like, I try to take my time with them because I don't want them to end. When I was reading Thirteen Reasons Why, I just wanted to get it over with.


But, now to the point of this entry. Have I really outgrown my high school days? WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!!! The girl that killed herself in the book killed herself...because she was in high school. People teased her, people ignored her. She was living the typical high school life. But, apparently, that's a big enough reason to end your life. And that pisses me off. Like, really, man up and get over it. You aren't the only one going through that stuff. EVERYONE IN THE SCHOOL IS GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING!!! My feelings on this action make me think that I have actually grown up and gotten over the whole high-school life. I know I'm 20, almost 21, so I should be over it, but I think it finally hit me after reading this book. It's kind of upsetting because high school was such a large part of my life, but it also feels good knowing that I'm maturing.

Anyway, I'm not going to recommend anybody run out and buy this book right away because it will change your life but it wasn't terrible. Just not something that was great.

Enter my brain...

So, I decided to start this blog. I don't know how well it will go over seeing as I'm not much of a writer or anything, but I figured it could be fun. Seems like a good place to just rant about things if need be, or post funny things I find throughout my day. But, who knows how it's going to work out. I mean, what would be the point of spending time writing if nobody is going to read it? Well, let the trip begin.



I found this picture today during one of my seemingly endless attempts to curb my boredom. I guess that's what happens during winter break? Usually I don't mind laying around, being lazy, and watching TV all day, but there's something different about this time. Whatever. I'll get over it. I thought it was a pretty accurate representation of how Americans see the world. It gave me a nice little laugh. Now, I'm not one to really sit around and argue politics or anything. I mean, I enjoy doing that, but I'm usually not well-informed enough to pose an educated argument. But, like I said, from the information I do have, I think this is a pretty realistic look at the world through the eyes of Americans.
